Here is our RANS S-12XL - completed in August 1999, after approximately 700 hours build time. The plane went together easily and I'm satisfied with the quality of the kit. I did add some custom touches of my own, like the machine-turned Instrument Panel, push to talk and sight glasses in radiator overflow and brake reservoir tanks. My wife Jean was a great help during construction - holding, pushing and screwing. Robert in RANS tech department was helpful . Maiden flight was on August 11, 1999, piloted by myself (owner-builder) after 13 hours of dual in Jon's S-12XL trainer. It was my first solo, the plane's first flight and the dirt strip's first use. After the trim tab was adjusted for straight and level there were no other adjustments necessary and it flies hands and feet off. I especially like the Rotax 912 engine. The economy is great, 3gph at 75 mph. Wouldn't want anything smaller, as our dirt strip is at 3,650 feet. We have a beautiful region to fly in. Almost no air traffic. You can see for 100 miles in our clean air. Mt. Shasta is 60 miles to the South at 14,162'. Kudos to RANS for a great flying machine....... P.S. We also are manufacturers of a portable refueling pump. Our portable pump facilitates easy refueling of wing tanks. Robert Kube EAA #576121
