Gary Bipes' S-12XL This airplane was purchased as a partial enclosure. I made it an
enclosed cabin with dope and fabric, and made my own doors, the tech at RANS
said to be careful, but it flies great, and I feel is very light 505 lbs, with dual tanks, the kunzelman hot box is the only way to go. I modified the tail wheel so the tail stays off the grd, I have the 503 dc, I feel it does a good job. I sold a firestar I built in1987, which had 615,hrs. I like the
RANS s12. It is a different type of flying, I now have 14.0 hrs, but still working out some, minor issues. all from me not
RANS. Doors , tach, fuel pump, site gauges for the tanks, minor things but great flying, I have the c box with the clutch , getting used to it with pwr of ldg, have a little right wing drop, when in the stall. will work this all out. Very nice plane.
Working on a rudder trim. Next project may be dope and fabric covering on the tail first. Very nice kit , compared to the kit in 1987.
