RANS announces a price increase to Rotax engines effective as December 1st. This is the second increase since October, where we were hit with 4% jump, now another 1.4%. This has been too much to absorb so engine prices will now reflect this increase. Engine price increases are predictable as the US dollar slips against the Euro. A sagging dollar is increasing the cost of any imported engine no matter the brand. Domestic engines are still out of the scope due to higher cost when comparing them to horsepower per pound per dollar, the Rotax still wins hands down. Hard to believe, but even at $19,500 the Rotax is a better deal. Compare it to the 0-200, which is $20,000 and 85 pounds heavier that is still better horse power per dollar and at a better power loading! Engine install cost are not included but both engines should have similar cost since they both need props, cowlings, fuel and cooling systems.
