RANS Designs, Inc. is seeking to hire someone to join our Aircraft Assembly team.  This individual will assist in Light Sport Ready-to-Fly aircraft assembly and avionics installation.  The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have excellent communication skills.   • Read and understand instructions and follow procedures in our aircraft assembly manuals, drawings, and parts manuals.

  • Take precision measurements to ensure accurate fit of aircraft components and conformance to blueprint specifications using instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.

  • Build and/or modify aircraft assemblies according to measurements and specifications.

  • Check finished aircraft assemblies and components to ensure highest quality.

  • Perform installations, modifications, and integration of advanced avionics systems and associated equipment in accordance with installation manuals, schematics, worksheets, and engineering drawings. 

  • Install, program, update, and troubleshoot radio communication, navigation systems and ADS-B systems, GPS navigation systems, flight and engine instruments, and flight control systems, using hand tools, multi-meters, and soldering irons. 

  • Perform bench checks, to include analysis, repair, and calibration of avionics electrical equipment.

  • Maintain equipment in good working condition.

  • Ensure work area is clean and hazard free.

  • Maintain records of production aircraft assemblies and associated build times.

  • Report on issues, fitment, or defective parts in a timely manner to production manager.













  • Ability to use tools such as shears, sheet metal dimplers, riveters, and machines (e.g. drill press and band saw)

  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings is a plus.

  • Avionics or electrical wiring experience is a plus.

  • General understanding of DC electrical systems is a plus.

  • General understanding of electrical schematics is a plus.

  • General understanding of Quality Control principles.

  • Capable of standing, or working on your feet, for long periods of time

  • Capable of lifting 50 pounds

  • General knowledge of materials handling standards.

  • High school diploma or experience working in a similar field are a plus
